Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Procurement Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the procurement of goods and services necessary for the port's operations. This role requires a detail-oriented and strategic thinker who can ensure cost-effective purchasing, maintain strong relationships with suppliers, and adhere to all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, a keen understanding of the supply chain, and a commitment to achieving the dry port's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Planning:
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the port's objectives.
Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of required goods and services.
Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality standards.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes promptly.
Purchasing Process:
Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for goods and services.
Ensure compliance with all procurement policies, procedures, and regulations.
Conduct market research to stay informed about market trends, pricing, and availability of goods.
Cost Management:
Analyze and report on procurement costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Develop and manage budgets for procurement activities.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier information.
Generate regular reports on procurement activities, costs, and supplier performance.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement and supply chain activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement
Strong knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and legal requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
